New York Giants punter Jeff Feagles will return for a 19th season in 2006. Feagles, 40, had considered retiring after the 2005 season. He decided recently to return to the team after reaching an agreement under which he will be able to see his wife and four children in Arizona during the season, the team said.

The New York Giants have signed Pro Bowl special teams player David Tyree to a five-year contract. The deal makes Tyree the highest-paid special teams player in the league, said Tyree's agent, Mark Clouser, and is on a par with money paid to No. 3 receivers in the league. Safety Shaun Williams became the Giants' third first-round draft choice in a
year to depart, all three having been either flat-out released or allowed to
dangle in free agency without an offer.

The New York Giants re-signed wide receiver Tim Carter on Friday. The Giants also were awarded wide receiver Harry Williams, who was waived by the Green Bay Packers earlier this month. Carter has 49 receptions for 714 yards and one touchdown in a four-year career marred by injury. His best season was in 2003, when he had 26 catches for 309 yards, but he only had 10 receptions last season.

--WR Tim Carter, who has 50 receptions in 37 career games, re-signed with the Giants. In 2005, Carter played in a career-high 15 games with one start and caught 10 passes for 186 yards, a team-high 18.6-yard average. Carter also gained 46 yards on six rushing attempts. He missed the regular-season finale and the Giants' playoff loss to Carolina because of a hip injury.
Putting the "special" in special teams, the Giants committed $7.5 million over five years to secure the services of special teams ace David Tyree. He had been a restricted free agent and, as such, was vulnerable to any other team in search of a dynamic special teams performer. In fact, Tyree, the team's third pick in the sixth round of 2003, was named to the NFC Pro Bowl team as the special teams selection. He signed a five-year contract valued at $1.
The NFL today released the preseason opponents for all 32 teams, as well as the dates and times for the games to be aired on national television. The Giants will host the Chiefs on Thursday, Aug. 17 at 8 p.m., in a game to be televised by the FOX network.
